Tel-One Network Services, Inc. (u-7327-c) is a Competitive Local Carrier that has been granted authorization to operate by the California Public Utilities Commission. Also, Tel-One received a Utility Conditions Permit (UCP) in San Francisco ensuring all buildings in San Francisco are serviceable.

Right to Choose your ISP

Tel-One is a supporter of San Francisco's Article 52 and Oakland's Municipal Code 8.66. Both these ordinances ensures Occupants (Renters or Owners) have the right to pick what every ISP they want and cannot be blocked by building owners or COAs.
Some buildings have exclusive access agreements with legacy ISPs and block access to other ISPs. The FCC has ruled that this type of behavior is anti-competition and has made rules to make it easier for smaller ISPs to thrive. (FCC 22-12)

Success with Article 52

The City of San Francisco passed Article 52: OCCUPANT'S RIGHT TO CHOOSE A COMMUNICATIONS SERVICES PROVIDER of the Police Code which allows enforcement of competition in apartment buildings. An example case: Tel-One Network Services VS. The Beacon settled, allowed access to non-incumbent ISPs, and the HOA had to pay $56,2500 in attorney's fees. Other settled cases have confirmed thousands of resident's right to choose an ISP of their liking!
